Manalapan
Manalapan is as good as Palm Beach, if not better. This town straddles two barrier islands off the Palm Beach County coast, with Ocean Avenue one of the few roads connecting it to the mainland. Manalapan is a secluded, watery world with only approximately 2 sq. mi. of land, making for an extremely private beach neighborhood that is untouched by large-scale development. Its residents number at less than 500— as exclusive as it can get.
Magnificent waterfront estates with private boat slips and docks are the staple in Manalapan's housing market. These are expansive properties in a wide variety of architectural styles, although contemporary proves to be among the most popular. Interior living sizes vary, with the largest homes in Manalapan offering over 17,000 sq. ft. of total livable space. The limited inventory and beautiful location drive real estate values in Manalapan, which average at around $4.1 million.
Apart from its coveted luxury real estate, Manalapan's crowning glory is its long stretch of undisturbed beach facing the Atlantic. It connects to Lantana Municipal Beach and travels south to Manalapan's southernmost boundary. This beach borders the Lofthus Underwater Archaeological Preserve, where scuba and wreck diving enthusiasts can dive to the Lofthus shipwreck. On the islands, there are a few shopping and retail options; most residents cross Lake Worth Lagoon to Boynton Beach or Lantana. North of Manalapan lies the illustrious community of Palm Beach, where a couple of cafes, high-end resorts and country clubs, and outdoor recreation spots are located. Meanwhile, Ocean Ridge is located in the opposite direction.
